Back in April Web Worker Daily posted “Spring Cleaning for the Web Worker” that gave great ideas for cleaning up email, eliminating clutter, and ensuring your information is safe.
As digitized the world has become, its still possible to have a cluttered office and desk as well. I need a shovel to find the top of my desk at least once a week. Its piled with books, notes, coffee mugs, and files. As you go through and declutter the computer, do the same for your desk. Move books and items that you don’t use daily to another place in your office. Find storage for your files and create a system for managing paper keeping in mind how you think and work. (I need systems in which I can see stuff as if its out of sight, its out of mind.)

One great advantage of working for yourself is the ability to set your own schedule and take a day off when you want to. Since its my birthday (I’m not going to tell you how old I am), I’m spending the day playing at Busch Gardens!
However, that doesn’t mean I’ve been a total slacker. While most people were enjoying their Memorial Day, I spent 2 hours in the morning preparing the job posts for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, as well as this and other posts. (This post you’re reading now, was written on Monday and scheduled for a Tuesday posting.) Its illustrates another great reason to use blogging scripts instead of static webpages to add content to your site…scheduled posts. So while I’m off, my systems are working for me!
