One of my pet peeves in social networking is the “me me” people…that is to say the people who ONLY post items about how how rich they are or how many followers they have, and how I can check it out. I’m not adverse to ads themselves. But the people who post only ads clearly don’t get the concept of social networking. In traditional advertising you can get away with uni-directional messages, but in social networking, if you don’t participate in what others are sharing, you’re missing the point. And in fact, if all you do is post a link to your offer, you’re going to annoy people – people who could be a great resource for viral marketing if you used social marketing more effectively.
