Work-At-Home Scam Survey Needs Your Help!

Work-at-home expert Leslie Truex will be hosting a Work-At-Home Scam Prevention week in March. In anticipation, she is conducting a survey of people’s experiences with work-at-home scams. “I was curious to find out not just what scams people are falling victim to, but also their thoughts at the time they acted on the scam, and what they did in response to being scammed,” says Truex who will post the results of the survey during Work-At-Home Scam Prevention week (March 17-23). The survey also posts questions to people who want to work-at-home, but haven’t been victimized by a scam. “I’m curious as to what they’re doing differently that is resulting in not getting scammed. There is obviously something they’re doing right and we can probably learn from them.”

Truex hopes to not only learn which scams are the most prevalent, but the psychological aspects that lead many to fall for the false hopes and dreams scams offer. She plans to use the information from the survey to create scam prevention materials that will effectively protect people from scams. “I believe avoiding scams involves knowledge as well as learning to control the emotions that lead us to buy. But this survey may reveal additional information about why people get scammed and how it can be better avoided.”

If you have been scammed or have run into scams but avoided being victimized, you’re invited to share your experiences in the Work-At-Home Scam Survey.   The survey consists of 15 questions, many of which require only a ‘yes’ and ‘no’ answer, and should take participants only a few minutes to fill out.

I was scammed years ago when I joined a site that promised to sell me a list of hundreds of companies who would pay me to take surveys. Most of the links were dead links and a lot were duplicated. Since then I started my own website that offers all links to these sort of companies for free. I’ve also written an article steering people away from these sort of scams.

Hi Sire,
Yes, many “directories” aren’t worth very much. Good for you for fighting back by giving it away free! – Leslie

Yep, it just didn’t seem tight to charge for something that can be obtained for free anyway.
