Free service converts your voice into messages, reminders, Tweets and more

no comment Posted by success

I just came across a great new resource that can send your voice recorded messages to your email, blog, Twitter, or other task management/web 2.0 service. At first it seemed like an interesting service but I wasn’t sure how I would use it. I signed up anyway and almost immediately discovered just how useful it could be. I was driving my daughter to horseback riding when I had an idea for my business, but because I was driving, I could stop to write it down. I could voice record it on my cell phone, but then I’d have to remember I’d recorded a message to myself (the older I get the less reliable my memory is). Then I remembered I’d signed up for Jott. I had already put the Jott number in my cell phone, so I called it, told it I needed to add a to-do to my Remember the Milk account and voila, it showed up on my to do list when I logged on my computer.

The transcript of your voice messages can be emailed to you, posted to your blog, Twitter or any number of task management accounts. The usefulness of this is huge. Are you a writer with a brainstorm while you’re driving? Call Jott and get an email of your idea. Have you made an appointment but don’t have your appointment book? Call Jott and have it emailed or posted to your online calendar. You can even send Jott messages to other people!

As an organizationally challenged person, I need help keeping my ideas and to-dos in one place instead of on a variety of papers or voice recordings. Jott is another tool to help me do that. Learn more and sign up for a free account at Jott.

Do you really want to know how much time you waste online?

Here’s an interesting article providing FireFox tools to let you know how you spend your time online. Personally, I don’t want to know. I’m pretty sure YouTube watching and fan fic reading would score too high. But if you’re looking for extra time or need to prove that you’re working, these tools may help.
